  • The present bachelor thesis attends to the question of whether the business process modelling method PICTURE, which has its origin in public administration, is equally applicable in libraries and what kind of adjustments would be required. The PICTURE-method works with prefabricated default modules, which cover the public administrational business processes in terms of content and are supposed to lead to simplify the modelling process. Can libraries, as an organizational part of public administration, benefit from using this method? In order to answer this question, the paper describes the typical methods of business process modelling and how they are applied in libraries, followed by a detailed examination of the PICTURE-method itself. Practical use of the method was made in the final chapter. A reference catalogue for libraries business processes modelled with the PICTURE-method has been developed. The results show that this method could indeed be applied in libraries, however, the question regarding an additional benefit compared to traditional methods remains.
