Die Auswirkungen des Internets auf die Tourismusbranche

The Internets Impact on the Tourism Industry

  • The subject of this work is to investigate the internets impact on the travel industry. The major objective of this study is to determine the changes, which have occurred to the value chain, the consumer behavior and the quality of service, related to the prevalence of the internet. Its goal is to predict the future of this development. The main focus is consistently on online services, which are used and offered by travel businesses and travelers, as well. This thesis discusses the effects of the online competition on traditional vendors, if sites for price comparison and consumer reviews are really creating a higher market transparency. It is explaining how useful direct sales and booking engines are and what benefits social networks and mobile applications have. By identifying and assessing the present status, this piece of work demonstrates why it is essential for businesses in the travel industry to make use of online marketing, social media and online services in general. It also outlines the services that are relevant today and the ones that will play an important part in the future. This bachelor’s thesis entitled The Impact of the Internet on the Travel Industry was written by Matthias Wieland in the period from November 30, 2011 to February 29, 2012 to graduate in the major of E-Services at Stuttgart Media University
