N2  - Die vorgelegte Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Frage von Zukunftsrollen in öffentlichen Bibliotheken im internationalen Kontext. Ferner werden die Länder Australien, USA, Großbritannien, Dänemark, Finnland und Singapur auf potenzielle Trends im Bereich der Bibliotheksrollen der Zukunft untersucht. Welche Rollen nehmen Bibliotheken in der Gegenwart ein? Wie können auf der Basis von jetzigen Rollen in öffentlichen Bibliotheken Rückschlüsse für zukünftige Bibliotheksrollen gezogen werden? Und in wieweit ergreifen die untersuchten Länder Maßnahmen, um Trends für die Zukunft auszumachen? Grundlage dieser Arbeit ist die Auseinandersetzung mit der Definition, Entstehung, Funktion und der Umsetzung von Rollen innerhalb öffentlicher Bibliotheken. Schließlich werden potenziellen Zukunftsrollen in öffentlichen Bibliotheken ermittelt. Innerhalb dieser Arbeit soll geklärt werden, ob und inwieweit sich die Meinungen der Länder bezüglich der Zukunftsrollen unterscheiden. Zusätzlich wird der Frage nach neuen Zusammenstellungen von Bibliotheksrollen nachgegangen.
N2  - This bachelor thesis deals with the question of future roles of public libraries in an international context. Furthermore it focuses on the roles in 
Australia, United States, Great Britain, Denmark, Finland and Singapore. What are the present roles of public libraries? How will the roles of present public libraries be different to the future roles of public libraries? And how do they find methods to fulfill trends about roles in public libraries for the future? This thesis concentrates on the definition, creation, function, implementation of roles in public libraries. And finally on the potential of the future roles in public libraries. This thesis will show the different attitudes of the countries towards the potential of the future roles of public libraries.
Finally, this thesis address the question if there is a new and different role for public libraries in the future.
